The Remnants of Winter in Fairbanks

May 4, 2009 | Tags: ,

One of the great things about Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center is its location on the banks of the Chena River, which is a center of activity in Fairbanks. Friday it was sunny and 75 degrees. From my upstairs office window I could see the last of the ice from upriver flowing quickly through downtown:

Fairbanks has the most consistent warm weather of any destination in Alaska, and has nearly 24-hour daylight (midnight sun) all summer. So…after the last of the ice in the river is gone, and looking out the window right now it seems it is, we have a generally beautiful season ahead of us. Find more weather information or make a plan to visit now!

I had been here with my parents 3 or 4 years ago and I experienced the almost 24-hour daylight too. It was indeed an amazing experience for me.

Got something to say?
