I happened to run across this video about last year’s Midnight Sun Baseball game and starting pitcher Bill “Spaceman” Lee. It seems to capture the general excitement of the game, which is a phenomenal attraction. Check it out:

If you have photos from your Fairbanks or Interior Alaska vacation that you’d like to share with us, the contest is still open and we’d be happy to have you participate.

The Remnants of Winter in Fairbanks
May 4, 2009 | Tags: Chena River, Ice
One of the great things about Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center is its location on the banks of the Chena River, which is a center of activity in Fairbanks. Friday it was sunny and 75 degrees. From my upstairs office window I could see the last of the ice from upriver flowing quickly through downtown:

Fairbanks has the most consistent warm weather of any destination in Alaska, and has nearly 24-hour daylight (midnight sun) all summer. So…after the last of the ice in the river is gone, and looking out the window right now it seems it is, we have a generally beautiful season ahead of us. Find more weather information or make a plan to visit now!
